ABA Team: New York (1973-74 to 1975-76)

Came to the New York Nets as a rookie free agent for 1973-74 season. As a rookie, was inserted into New York starting lineup after Nets endured a 4-10 start and a nine-game losing streak -- Nets proceeded to go 51-19 and won ABA Championship. Had 16 of his 28 points in the 4th quarter of Game 6 of the 1976 ABA Finals, as the Nets erased a 22-point deficit and clinched the series. Williamson's # 23 was retired by the New Jersey/New York Nets franchise on December 7, 1990 (only four ABA Nets have had their numbers retired by the franchise: Williamson, Wendell Ladner, Bill Melchionni and Julius Erving). Williamson died of kidney failure (related to diabetes) in November 1996.
