February 2, 1967 An ABA franchise is awarded to John Klug and James Peters for $30,000
1967 Prior to the 1967-68 season, the franchise is purchased by a group including Robert S. Folsom Jr, James L. Embrey, David Bruton Jr., Joseph W. Geary, Graham R.E. Koch and Lawrence S. Pollock Jr.
April 9, 1973 The franchise is purchased for $1.6 million by Professional Sports, Inc., a group headed by John Schaefer, Angelo Drossos, Art Burdick and B.J. "Red" McCombs, and moves to San Antonio
June 17, 1976 The franchise enters the NBA, paying a $3.2 million entry fee
